Friday, March 30, 2012

Hey everyone!

It’s Jennifer from Blissfully Ever After and today I want to share with you some simple, practical, and effective Spring Cleaning and Organizing tips!

Join my Facebook community for more Spring Cleaning tips!

Wow, I cannot believe it is already the end of March! Good thing we have been getting our Spring Cleaning done right? It is almost time to start playing outside …you know, yard work, gardening, bike rides, walks, playing with our kiddos/grand kids. I am really looking forward to the beautiful sunny days. My son is almost 6 months and so I cannot wait to show him all that nature has to offer and to take him swimming, boating, and just to be able to lay out on a blanket with him on the grass. Wahoo! I have a feeling he is going to love it. But, until the sun starts peaking its head out at us a little more, I am sticking inside to get the rest of my spring cleaning done. How are all of you doing? Are you staying focused and accomplishing your goals? I hope so!

If you are just joining us, here is what we’ve completed so far:

The following post is a re-post from last year but it is exactly what I do to get my bathroom sparkling clean!

Today, I am going to show you how I clean and disinfect my bathroom naturally. My go-to products I use are Basic GBasic HScour Off and the Microfiber WindowCleaning cloths and Sponge
{This is all I use to clean my entire house….but today we will be focusing on just the bathroom}.

Cleaning Products

Mirror

Here is my bathroom mirror. When cleaning this I use only 2 drops of Basic H per 16 oz. spray bottle to make window cleaner and then I use this spray along with my trusted Microfiber Window Cloth and tada tada, sprakling clean! No streaks, film, or annoying particles from paper towels.

Countertop

I use 1/4 tsp of Basic H mixed with 16 oz. of water to make an all-purpose cleaner and I use this along with my Microfiber Cleaning Cloth on my granite countertops, cabinets, light fixtures, mirror frame, tile backsplash, light switches, and faucets. {There are 1,000 different uses for Basic H…so really the cleaning opportunities are endless}. Basic H is the best cleaner to use on granite countertops. Our countertops are brand new and I wouldn’t trust any other product on them besides Basic H.

Sink

To clean my sink, I use Basic G and Scour Off together with my trusted Microfiber Sponge. Basic G is a disinfectant made from natural surfactants and kills 99.9% of germs on contact and the clean lasts up to three days {bleach only lasts for up to one day} and is registered with the EPA to be used as an effective formula to kill germs, bacteria, and viruses.  Scour off scrubs any hard water spots or caked on gunk and leaves my sink sparkling clean {plus it smells like cherry bubble gum}. All of the Get Clean line products are safe to use on surfaces, will not dull, stain, discolor or harm finishes.

Toilet

Shower

I also use these two products to clean my toilets and showers. The combination is powerful yet safe for my family and I. I love that I can clean my entire house with the Get Clean line without having to use gloves, open windows {unless I want to} or turn on fans like I used to have to when using bleach, Comet, Windex, etc. And my house is the cleanest it’s ever been! Don’t you want a clean and safe house too?!!

Floors

I also use 1 oz. of Basic H and 1/2 oz. of Basic G mixed with 1 gallon of hot water to mop my bathroom floors. I am telling you, NOTHING cleans my floors better! They look brand new every time I use this stuff!!

Bathroom

So, there you have it, a look into how I clean and disinfect my bathroom. It feels so good to have a clean bathroom and the best part is, I love knowing that I’ve used products that are natural, powerful, and safe.

Here is a little more information about each product I used today:

Basic g Banner

Because it is so concentrated, a little goes a long way and saves you $$$!
Basic-G has a 3 year shelf life. Its residual effectiveness lasts up to three days after application. Chlorine (bleach) used as a disinfectant is effective no more than one hour. Great wherever disinfectants are used! Kills up to 99% of bacteria.

Spring Cleaning 101

Monday, March 12, 2012
It’s that time again….Spring Cleaning time!!!!  YAY!!! :)

Even though I clean my house regularly, every year I go through the whole house  like  a crazy person and clean and organize EVERYTHING!!!

And then, somehow after year (or less) it looks like I never did anything at all, so I have to do it all over again.

I use a spring cleaning schedule to make sure I get everything done.   I always try to do my cleaning and organizing as part of my Lenten Promise.  Then I have  a clean house before Easter and I can relax and enjoy my summer knowing that everything is all clean.

Spring Cleaning Checklist

Getting started with this is the hardest part but after I am done I feel great.

Get started and good luck!!!

Here are some Spring Cleaning Parties that you can join this year for motivation!! :)

Have a great day! :)

Spring Cleaning Dusting Routine

Sunday, March 20, 2011

Hello!  I hope that you all had a great weekend!  My hubs and I spent almost the whole weekend working on our next organizing project!  I am so excited to show you, but we still need a little more time before I show you the results!  Maybe, I will show you a sneak peak midweek.

Anyway,  because we are all in spring cleaning mode and I have been super busy, I am going to re-post a spring cleaning post that I wrote last year.

Here ya go…

If you’re one of America’s 40 million allergy sufferers, you probably already clean everyday to minimize allergens. Even if you clean daily, allergens may still be hanging out in your house.  To really control dust mites your house should be deep cleaned 2 or 3 times a year and Spring in a great time to refresh your home after the long winter.

Here are some spring cleaning dusting tips…

Wear a face mask (if allergic to dust)

Use a microfiber cloth, a Basic H Wipe or damp cloth for dusting: I love using Basic H Wipes!!!

Or

I damp my cloth my all-purpose Basic H solution!!!

Dust early: If you are allergic to pollen, you should finish your cleaning before pollination begins because you want to keep your windows open to allow your house to breathe.  (especially if you are using chemical cleaners)

Use a HEPA filter on your vacuum:  HEPA filters can trap very fine particles, like pollen and dust mite feces, which can trigger allergy attacks

Work down: I like to start at my ceilings and work down to the floor.  That way if dust does get into the air and fall, I can still get it as I work down.

Here is what I dust….

Don’t forget to wash all bedding.

To to really get hidden dust and help your refrigerator you NEED to vacuum your refrigerator  coils.  This should been done at least twice a year.  Mine was really bad, I think that it had been a year.  Here are some before and after pictures.

Before (I told you that it was bad)

2010 03 30_2418

Here is the cover.

2010 03 30_2419Here is the after.2010 03 30_2421

I vacuumed under the front and the back.

2010 03 30_2422

I was only able to get the first and last grates because I couldn’t get my vacuum any further.  As you can see, it is really dusty.  But at least I was able to get what I got.  And my fridge started to work better immediately.

2010 03 30_2423

Remember to clean your vacuum filters regularly.

Now is a great time to do it again so you get the best suction for your deep spring cleaning.

Here is my filter before I cleaned it.

2010 03 25_1809

Then I took out the frame.

2010 03 25_1810

Next, I put a couple of drops of Basic H straight on it.

2010 03 25_1811

Here is it after.

It was sooo easy.  The hardest part was waiting the 24 hours for it to dry.

I am obsessed with vacuuming!

2010 03 25_1812

I also washed out the lint holder.

2010 03 25_1813

Ahh, much better!

2010 03 25_1814

Before.

2010 03 25_1815

After.

2010 03 25_1816

It is also important to clean out and hair or lint that might be trapped the the brushes.

2010 03 25_1817

Now I know that I will get the best suction!!!!

That makes me vey happy! :)

After dusting and vacuuming my whole house, I washed my floor to make sure all the dust was gone.

I only use a chemical free, organic, non-toxic cleaner called Basic H.

2010 03 25_1823

Are you surprised? Lol!

I love it and use it for everything!!! Seriously!

Here are some pictures.

Before.

(It doesn’t usually get this bad EVER, so it makes a great before)

2010 03 30_2434

After.

2010 03 30_2438

Before.

2010 03 30_2444

After.

2010 03 30_2445

It’s even safe enough to let your little ones help!

2010 03 30_2446

After you have dusted, vacuumed and washed the last room in your whole house, make sure to take out all your garbage, wash all of your microfiber clothes and other cleaning items thoroughly.

So, there it is!!!

My spring cleaning dusting routine!

It feels so great to be done, now onto the rest of my mile long list.

I hope that this was helpful and good luck on your spring cleaning!!!!
