Popsicle Stick Fun

Hello! :)  Can you tell I have been busy, lol?  Yes, no time for blogging lately and I am okay with that!  Besides, going to Vegas for Shaklee's Annual Global Conference, I have been growing my Shaklee business and spending the last weeks of summer with my kiddos!  Oh yeah, and trying to sell our house, ha!  So, you can see, if I want any sleep at all, blogging had to go on the back burner. School starts next week and I have 20 posts in the drafts that I need to edit so stay tuned.  Until then, I am on Facebook daily.  Please connect with me there.

Alex, from Crafting with My Cubs has a treat for you today!  She is totally awesome and I finally "met" her while in Vegas!  She is just about the sweet girl ever.  

I'm Alex from Crafting with My Cubs, back again on Bonnie's awesome blog. Over the summer I spent a week at girl's camp and I was in charge of putting together a craft/service project for our girls. Unfortunately, due to the hot weather or the fact that they're 15 year old teenage girls, not many participated fully. As a result I came home with TONS of extra Popsicle sticks. 

I was putting them away when this idea popped back into my head. I remember playing with these as a kid, don't know when or what the occasion was, but I figured my little boy would have a blast.

I was right!

These are so easy to make. Start with two sticks and make an upside down V.

Put a third stick in the middle of that

Then slide one up about half way, with the two sides on top and the middle stick beneath. (or vise versa, just alternate)

Lastly, use one last stick that alternates opposite of the previous and this will secure the 'ninja star'.

Now toss them at the ground and watch them pop apart! 

They're pretty much harmless and the mess is easy to pick up. My little man has been having fun with these for the last couple days and just giggles and giggles when they explode!

Actually, Kent ate all of the Good and Plenty, but nevertheless- this DIY B-day gift is so easy and everyone oohd and aaad over my 5 minutes of easy work! You may have seen some similar ones floating around What you need: candy/ optional gift cards / /

1. Hot glue skewers to the back of each candy box 


2. Place foam square in pot  


3. Cover square with moss 


4. Place largest box in back middle 

5. Arrange from there!

So easy! 

I'll definitely be remaking this one for Kent on his B-day although I'll be subbing mini bottles for him. :) I also saw one with cigars for a new dad! So many possibilities...

How to Organize Your Children’s Schoolwork

Well, it is that time of year… you know, when school ends!  I am excited and sad at the same time!!!

Today, I am going to show you how I organized all my daughter’s school papers.

Welcome to Week 14 of our Organize your Life series!

I am following the book Organize Now!  for my weekly posts but today (because school ends tomorrow),  I will show you what I did this week instead of my weekly challenge.

I already showed you here, how I keep a file for each child.  Each day, when Grace brought home her work,  I would hang them on the fridge.  After that, I would save them in her file.

 

Yesterday, she brought  home a bag of artwork and worksheets from school so I thought we would make our binder.

I took out everything that I had and we got to work!

 

I picked up some sheet protectors (to protect her work) and a new binder.

 

We started to fill the sheets.

 

It was a lot of fun looking through everything! :)

 

I LOVED this Mother’s Day Poem that her class made for us Moms! :)

 

Grace really liked helping me and looking at all  of her work too!

 

Since her favorite color is pink, we used pink scrapbook paper to decorate the binder.

I also printed out a K (for kindergarten) and her name.

 

Now, we have a nice binder to look at.

 

I love this one picture…

Grace LOVES her book and she has looked at it a million times already, ha!

My challenge for you this week is to make a keepsake binder, box or something like that for your children/grandchildren’s school work and post to here! 

I can’t wait to see them! :)

How to Organize Crafts

Welcome to my series called, “Organize Your Life”!  This is the 13th week!  Are you feeling organized yet?  I know I am! :)  I love having a weekly challenge to keep my going!!

 

HOW TO ORGANIZE YOUR CRAFTS

 

 

Hello everyone!  We just finished organizing our papers and now we are moving on to the fun part, organizing our THINGS!!!  Oh, yes!  We all have way too many things, don’t we?  Well, let’s go through them, sort, toss, donate and organize them!  Woo Hoo, how does that sound?  I am excited too!  I could always use a little motivation to simplify!

This week, we are organizing our CRAFTS!!!  Some of you only have a little and for others, craft supplies might be taking over!  I think our collection keeps growing, ha!  As the kids get older,  they like to try new things out which I love!  I just need a place to keep it all!

I actually posted this last year but I have to be honest, it still looks the same except I added a little to the bottom cabinet.  I also replaced a couple of things that we used up.  I keep everything in labeled, clear bins.  Everything has a spot, so basically, THERE IS NO ROOM FOR SHOVING!  I have caught my husband standing there trying to find a place to shove something and he can’t.  He spent more time trying to squeeze crafts in the wrong place rather than just reading the label and putting it away, lol!

 

After, I fit everything in how I wanted to, I made labels for each bin.  I used address labels and love how it turned out!

I love that the kids can see through the bins!

Now everything has a spot and I can just take out one bin at a time.

I even saved a spot for easy access to some books, coloring books and color wonder/explosion books.

 

This is the lower cabinet.  On the top shelf, I have a bin for each child with their own school/activity books.  They love having their own bin.  At the beginning of the day, I just have to bring out 2 bins and the  kids always know where keep their stuff.

I also keep extra supplies in here.

Construction paper and scrapbooking supplies are also kept in here.

Here is how it turned out!  I am so happy!!!!

My house did get messy while we were trying to get organized, lol!  But the kids loved helping me!

 

Challenges For This Week!

Gather Supplies.  Do you have crafting supplies all around the house?  If so, go around and collect everything.

Sort/Toss.  Check all your supplies and toss all the bad/old supplies.  (ex: old paint, dull scissors,)

Categorize. Sort supplies by category.  (ex: stamping, painting, stickers)

Get Containers.  Decide what you are going to store everything in.  You can use bins, baskets, etc.  Don’t forget to label them! :)

Storage Space.  Find a place to keep your containers.  I use a kitchen cabinet but you can use a closet, under the bed, a craft station, etc.

 

For some of you, this will be an easy challenge, and for others, it will he difficult… but NEEDED!
